ABOUT
I'm originally from Reston, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, DC. When we were growing up, our parents often took my sister and me to the museums and galleries downtown to see the latest art installations and cultural exhibitions.
Those early experiences had a lasting influence on my interests, leading me to complete a BA in History at the University of Virginia, and then later earning a master's in Photography at the Brooks Institute in California. During those years in college and graduate school I traveled extensively, visiting 20+ countries and learning to speak Spanish fluently.
I still love traveling but I've settled down in Austin, Texas, where I have taught photography for almost a decade at the Art Institute of Austin. I also shoot for editorial and commercial clients, and occasionally take on retouching jobs, as well.
When I'm not on assignment or teaching classes, I love doing DIY projects around the house, tending to my collection of succulents and houseplants, and trying to capture the cuteness of our adopted pug, Backpack.*
